WXC and MSOC named Mucho Burrito Athletes of the Week
In a move that surprises no one, our ACAC champion teams have been named our Mucho Burrito Athletes of the Week!
Oct. 31, 2019 - It was a weekend for the history books, as two Kodiaks teams came away with ACAC Championships - men's soccer and women's cross country.
This week, we honour them as our Mucho Burrito Athletes of the Week!
Men's Soccer
The Kodiaks men’s soccer program made history on the weekend, taking home the program’s first ever ACAC championship.
The team booked a spot to CCAA Nationals with an upset victory over the host top-ranked NAIT Ooks on Saturday, before downing Red Deer College 2-0 in the final on Sunday. Now looking to create more history, the lads will travel to Oshawa, ON for the national championship tournament, starting on Nov. 6 when they face VIU in the CCAA quarterfinal.
Women's XC
The Kodiaks women’s cross country team successfully defended their banner last weekend, earning a second straight ACAC gold medal in Calgary.
Sophia Nowicki won individual gold for the second straight season, finishing off an undefeated year. Head coach Simon Schaerz was also named ACAC Coach of the Year. The team now prepares for CCAA Nationals in Grande Prairie, which takes place on Nov. 9.
