Weekend Preview: Kodiaks finish regular season at home
Kodiaks play host to the final regular season games for ACAC basketball.
The Lethbridge College Kodiaks play host to the final regular season games for Alberta Colleges Athletics Association (ACAC) basketball. The Kodiaks will take on two North division teams. On Friday, the Kodiaks will face the Concordia University Thunder. Saturday the Kodiaks will celebrate seniors night and play The Kings University Eagles. These games are crucial for both Kodiaks teams, as well as their opponents, as they are in the fight for playoff seeding. This time of year brings high energy, passion and excitement for players, coaches and fans.
After this weekend, both teams will head into the first round of playoffs Feb. 23 and 24. Times, locations and opponents to be determined.

Women’s Basketball
Kodiaks (16-3) vs Concordia Thunder (10-8)
- Friday, Feb. 16 | 6 p.m. at Val Matteotti Gymnasium
Kodiaks (16-3) vs TKU Eagles (12-6)
- Saturday, Feb. 17 | 6 p.m. at Val Matteotti Gymnasium
The final weekend of regular season play will see the Kodiak women’s basketball team take on the second and third place teams in the North division, the Concordia Thunder and the TKU Eagles. The Kodiaks are tied for first in the south and are looking to extend a six-game winning streak.
Hannah Helton (fifth year, Exercise Science, Okotoks) is leading the Kodiaks in scoring with 18.3 points per game. Brooklyn Hardy (first year, Bachelor of Nursing, Cardston) has shown her potential this season to be a key rebounder for the team. Gaby Power (second year, Early Childhood Education, Calgary) has been an asset for the Kodiaks this season, coming off the bench and giving quality minutes with her rebounding and willingness to take the open shot.

The Kodiak men’s basketball team will look to finish the regular season with success at home this weekend. The Kodiaks, fighting for playoff seeding and currently third in the South, will take on the Thunder and the Eagles in two highly important games.
Ty Lewis (second year, Open Studies, Cardston) a valuable second semester pickup, brings veteran leadership and versatile ability. Cody Tollestrup (first year, Business Administration, Magrath) and Jackson Wright (first year, Business Administration, Claresholm) have both played crucial roles this season, adding reliability and grit to the lineup.
