Taylor commits to Kodiaks WVB
Kodiaks women’s volleyball head coach Anna Schwark has unveiled Reia Taylor is the first member of her 2020-21 recruiting class.
Apriil 29, 2020 - Kodiaks women’s volleyball head coach Anna Schwark has unveiled the first member of her 2020-21 recruiting class, confirming that Calgary native Reia Taylor has committed to joining the program this fall.
Taylor is a left side who will be graduating from the Ace Volleyball Club out of Calgary.
With a potent combination of height and skill, Schwark believes Taylor will give the team a dangerous weapon when they hit the court next season.
“We are excited to have Reia join us because she offers height and a different skill-set than our current left-sides possess, and it will really open up our offensive options in game play,” says Schwark. “She has a really high contact point which is awesome and is a very consistent passer which is a skill are always looking to improve upon in this program.”
Schwark is particularly excited by the competitive fire Taylor shows once she steps into a match.
“I enjoy watching Reia play because though she is quite shy off the court, she definitely has a strong presence on the court, and I am looking forward to getting to see that competitive side of her.”
Taylor has excelled recently on both the high school and club volleyball circuit. She was awarded the Senior Girls Volleyball MVP at All Saints High School and was also named captain of her club team U18 Ace of Spades- Black.
For her, the opportunity to play post-secondary volleyball is a dream come true.
“I am very excited to become a Kodiak,” says Taylor. “I’ve always dreamt of playing at a higher level like this and it’s finally here. I can’t wait to get to another level of volleyball.”
Taylor will begin the Criminal Justice - Policing program when she arrives at Lethbridge College.
The Kodiaks finished fourth in the tough ACAC south division last season, winning seven of their final ten games.
