MVB | Revet commits to Kodiaks MVB
Adam Revet has committed to join the Kodiaks in 2020/21.
Aug. 18, 2020 – Despite uncertainty surrounding the upcoming season, Lethbridge College Kodiaks men’s volleyball head coach Greg Gibos has kept busy on the recruiting trail. Gibos has recently secured another exciting addition to his roster, getting a commitment from middle/opposite attacker Adam Revet from North Battleford, Sask.
Revet will join the Kodiaks after recently completing his high school volleyball career with the John Paul II Collegiate Crusaders. Revet captured several individual awards last season, leading the Crusaders to a silver medal performance at 4A provincials. He was a dual sport athlete, also suiting up for the Crusaders in basketball.
“I was able to watch several of Adam’s matches at competitions and was impressed with his ability to push and lead his teammates,” says Gibos. “One thing with Adam is he’s a pure athlete. He’s hungry, he’s driven and wants to win. His ability to be positive and lead his teammates in high stress times were the key attributes that really pushed us to make an offer to him to be a Kodiak.”
Beyond his ability on the court, Gibos is impressed with Revet’s mature demeanour and work ethic.
“Even when Adam came to visit us last winter, we could immediately see he’s the type of guy who is going to give his teammates everything he has,” says Gibos. “He’s dedicated to bettering himself, and he’s the type of athlete who isn’t satisfied with being ordinary. He’s going to raise the level of intensity in practice, and we look forward to giving him the tools to learn how to be a leader in our program.”
Revet already sports an impressive volleyball resume, including representing Saskatchewan at the Canada Cup in Halifax in 2019. He also impressively played on the U18 Team Saskatchewan team as a U17 athlete. Revet says he can’t wait to become part of the tightknit culture the Kodiaks have been building.
“The thing that makes me most excited to become a Kodiak is becoming a part of a hugely talented group of guys that treat each other like brothers,” says Revet. “The family aspect is huge for me, being so far away from home. Knowing that I’ll be getting treated like such gives me tons of confidence.”
Once he hits the court, Revet says he is committed to putting in the hard work required to make the transition to post-secondary volleyball.
“I am a very hard worker that will be pushing not only myself, but others as well to be the best that we can be,” says Revet. “I have always been a leader, and I believe that learning from the current leaders will propel me to fill in their shoes in the future.”
The Kodiaks men’s volleyball program enters next season coming off back-to-back Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) silver medals, and a fourth-place appearance at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) men’s national championship tournament in Fredericton, NB last season. Although the ACAC fall volleyball season has been postponed with sights focused on a winter semester start, Gibos is excited to make another great addition to his recruiting class.
“We’re just so thrilled to have Adam represent the Kodiaks,” says Gibos. “He has an innate ability to help lead others and improve his teammates around him. We know he’s going to accomplish some excellent things in his time at Lethbridge College and we are happy he’s a Kodiak.”
Revet-ing Extras
Gibos says Revet has many interests outside volleyball, including being a shoe junkie, car enthusiast and a music lover. All these make for a well-rounded addition to the program, says Gibos…. Revet will take transferable General Arts and Sciences courses to work towards obtaining a Bachelor in Science before exploring a career in physiotherapy.
