Local Product Eryka Woods Commits to Kodiaks WVB
Kodiaks women’s volleyball head coach Anna Schwark is excited to bring another local addition to her roster next season.
April 30, 2020 – Kodiaks women’s volleyball head coach Anna Schwark is excited to bring another local addition to her roster next season.
Schwark has announced the commitment of Eryka Woods, a Chinook High School product who will join the Kodiaks after competing with Panther Volleyball Club in Coaldale.
“We are super excited for a local from Chinook High School to be joining us next year,” says Schwark. “We have been watching Eryka for a few years now and we are really glad to have the opportunity to keep her home for a few more years.”
Woods will enter the post-secondary ranks after making her mark on the local high school scene. She helped her Chinook Coyotes team capture the zone championship in each of the last four years. She was also named a first team all-star in her senior year.
“She is a strong middle and what I really like about her is her aggressiveness,” raves Schwark. “She seems like a total gamer who’s willing to get after the ball. She can make some great cuts to the corners on offense and that’s probably my favourite thing about her gameplay.”
Having grown up watching the Kodiaks, Woods is excited to continue her education and play post-secondary volleyball in her hometown.
“I’m very excited to be joining the Kodiaks because I have always looked up to them growing up,” says Woods. “Playing volleyball in Lethbridge and to be able to play for them now is very exciting. I’m looking forward to a higher level of competition and to be able to play with such an amazing group of girls."
"I can’t wait for next season.”
The Kodiaks finished fourth in the tough ACAC south division last season.
