Oct. 21, 2019 – The Lethbridge College Kodiaks women’s soccer team wrapped up a historic regular season last weekend, using a pair of victories to clinch their first ACAC south division title in over 25 years.
A 7-0 road victory over Red Deer College on Saturday secured the program’s first division crown since 1994. The team then wrapped up the regular season with a 2-1 triumph over the Augustana Vikings on Sunday, improving their record to an impressive 9-1-2.
That 1994 team went on to win the CCAA national championship in the program’s first year of existence.
Now, this year’s edition will look to make history of their own, starting with the ACAC postseason tournament this upcoming weekend in Edmonton.
The Kodiaks have earned a first-round bye and will play on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Their opponent will be determined on Friday, as they will face the winner of the ACAC quarter-final match between the Olds College Broncos and the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder.
Since Concordia hosts this year’s CCAA national championship, the Kodiaks will need to win the ACAC championship to secure a trip to nationals.
