Dewsbery and HOYT named March AOTM
Brock Dewsbery and Natalie Hoyt have been named the Kodiaks March Athletes of the Month.
March 23, 2020 - A pair of Kodiaks basketball players have been recognized as the Kodiaks March Athletes of the Month, sponsored by Moxie's Lethbridge and Italian Table.
After fantastic performances at their respective conference championship tournaments, Brock Dewsbery (MBB) and Natalie Hoyt (WBB) have taken home the honours!
We would also like to recognize the hard work and dedication shown by the student-athletes on our men's and women's futsal and indoor track teams. These student-athletes put in hours of hard work and made countless sacrifices all season. Even though these unprecedented circumstances has prevented them from competing at the conference championships, we want to thank them for their tireless hard work and dedication to our program. We can't wait to see them compete again when the time is right to do so.
Brock Dewsbery (MBB)
The heart and soul of the Kodiaks 20-1 men's basketball team overcame great adversity to deliver an outstanding ACAC championships performance. Despite having a tooth nearly knocked out in the Kodiaks disappointing opening round loss against NAIT, the south division Rookie of the Year and ACAC Player of the Year rebounded by leading the Kodiaks to back-to-back wins over host Augustana and then Red Deer to cap a remarkable season. He was named a first team ACAC tournament all-star and was also named a CCAA All-Canadian.
Natalie Hoyt (WBB)
The ACAC south division rookie of the year was an absolute force for the Kodiaks during the 2020 ACAC Championships, especially during a tense quarterfinal match in which the Kodiaks nearly toppled eventual champion Lakeland College. In that game, Hoyt dropped 13 points and collected three assists while also playing up-tempo defence.
