Women struck down by Lightning
15 points from Natalie Hoyt and a double-double from newcomer Millay Johnson (10 pts, 11 reb) wasn't enough to fend off a tough St. Mary's side in the women's action, as the Kodiaks fell 89-63.
Opposite to the men's game, it was the Lightning who jumped out to a 29-17 edge in the opening quarter and cruised the rest of the way. The Lightning also found their groove from beyond the arc, draining eleven three pointers (42.3% 3PT shooting) compared to the Kodiaks four (26.7% 3PT shooting).
Lethbridge is now 9-8 and still is largely in control of their own playoff destiny. They hold a four point edge on Briercrest and Red Deer for the final ACAC south playoff spot, although both the Clippers and Queens have two games in hand.
The Kodiaks will host CCAA top ranked Olds College for their last home weekend Feb. 14-15, before finishing the season with a two-game series against Briercrest Feb. 21-22.
