Bio

Ken McMurray joined the Kodiaks coaching staff in second half of the 2019-2020 season. McMurray was promoted to head coach at the start of the 2021-2022 season. 

For the past 30 years McMurray has coached both the varsity girls and boys Cardston High School Basketball programs. McMurray led the program to three south zone championships, while assistant coaching the senior girls provincial title in 2013. McMurray has helped to develop and graduate dozens of players onto college and university programs around the country. McMurray is currently the principal at Cardston High School. 

McMurray is a big part of the Southern Alberta basketball community at every level. McMurray is in the gym year-round, organizing adult leagues in the spring and children’s camps throughout the summer and fall. 

Ken played for the Kodiaks in the 1981-82 season. From 1982 to 1986 McMurray played for the University of Lethbridge. The Pronghorns made it it to the Final Four in his third year (1984-85) and won the Canada West Championship in 1985-86. McMurray was named a Canada West First Team AllStar for three straight years and received All-Canadian First Team recognition in his final season with the Pronghorns. 

McMurray has a Master’s of Educational Leadership from the University of Lethbridge.
