Bio
Mike Racz returned as head coach of the Kodiaks Men’s and Women’s Soccer programs in 2025, continuing a long-standing connection to Kodiaks soccer that began in 2009. Racz first joined the men’s program as an assistant coach before moving to the women’s side in 2010 under head coach Sean Carey. After serving as an assistant under Barry Morrison in 2011, he took over the women’s program as head coach in 2012.
In just his second season as head coach, Racz was named the 2013 ACAC South Coach of the Year. In 2015, he became the first coach in Lethbridge College history to lead both the men’s and women’s soccer programs simultaneously.
Under his leadership, the Kodiaks women’s program has reached the ACAC playoffs three times, while the men’s program has qualified once. After stepping away from the program in 2017 to focus on teaching, Racz remained active in the sport as an assistant coach with the University of Lethbridge men’s soccer program from 2017-2021 and with the women’s program during the 2021 season. He returned to the Kodiaks in 2023 before resuming head coaching duties for both programs in 2025.
A lifelong resident of Lethbridge and graduate of Catholic Central High School, Racz has deep roots within the local soccer community. In addition to coaching at the collegiate level, he runs the Soccer Academy at St. Francis Junior High School and has worked extensively in player and coach development throughout southern Alberta, including with Lethbridge FC.
“I have been incredibly fortunate to have the Kodiaks Soccer program as part of my life for the past 17 years. Over that time, I’ve had the opportunity to work with not only talented athletes, but truly amazing people. ‘We Are All Kodiaks’ is a message that resonates deeply with me because of the relationships and strong sense of community that have always been at the heart of this program.”
Racz earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Lethbridge, along with a Master of Education in Coaching Studies from the University of Victoria.
