Kyra Piekema (second year, General Arts and Science, Lethbridge), a key player for the Kodiaks women's soccer team, has quickly emerged as a leader this season following an outstanding rookie year. In the Kodiaks' recent victory over the Olds College Broncos, Piekema made a significant impact with two assists and a goal of her own. Her contributions were also evident in the game against the Red Deer Queens, where she played a crucial role in keeping the team motivated and had several close shots. As the Kodiaks women’s team stands at 2-2 coming up to the midway point the season, Piekema's leadership and skill have been vital to their performance.
Wilson Ntignee (fifth year, Business Administration, Bori, Nigeria) of the Kodiaks men’s soccer team has proven himself to be a true game-changer. Over the weekend, in a tightly contested match against the Olds College Broncos, Ntignee scored the decisive goal in the 87th minute to secure a 2-1 victory for the Kodiaks and was named player of the game. Similarly, in a thrilling encounter with the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings, Ntignee netted the equalizing goal in the 90th minute, preserving the Kodiaks' unbeaten streak. Thanks to Ntignee's clutch performances, the Kodiaks men's team is now 3-0-1 almost halfway through the season.
