Weekend Recap: Kodiaks close out their 2024-25 athletic season
The Kodiaks indoor track team wrapped up their season at the ACAC Championships.
The Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks indoor track team wrapped up their season at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Championships co-hosted by Concordia University of Edmonton, Medicine Hat College, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, The King's University and University of Alberta-Augustana
Indoor track
The Kodiaks indoor track team had a fantastic championship weekend, with many outstanding performances, personal bests and individual medals.
The highlights of the meet included the relay events and the men’s 300 metre and 600m races. In the men’s 300m event, Tyler Wiebe (first year, Pre-Carpenter Certificate, Coaldale) claimed first place, with Jonah Hennig (third year, Criminal Justice – Policing, Blackfalds, Alta.) finishing in third. The men’s 600 m event saw Owen Stewart (third year, Business Administration – Accounting, Lethbridge) taking the win, and Hennig finishing just behind him in second place. Hannah Pilling (first year, Academic Upgrading, Cardston) ran a person best in the 3000m event where she finished in second.
Both the women’s 4x200m and 4x400m relay teams had strong performances, finishing third in both events. On the men’s side, the 4x200m relay team secured a silver medal, while the 4x400m team delivered an impressive performance to win gold.
Overall, the women’s team finished in third place behind Red Deer and SAIT. The men’s team put up a strong effort in their pursuit of a third consecutive ACAC championship banner but ultimately finished in second place behind SAIT, the reigning Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) cross-country national champions.

Following the events on Sunday the ACAC awarded Stewart, Hennig and Wiebe all-conference honours. Wiebe was also named the 2025 indoor track Men’s ACAC Rookie of the Year, while Stewart took home the Men’s ACAC Runner of the Year title.
