Weekend preview: Kodiaks look to continue their winning streaks
Kodiaks fans will have the opportunity to take in six home games this weekend.
Feb. 2, 2024 – Lethbridge College Kodiaks fans will have the opportunity to take in six home games this weekend. Friday will see the basketball teams tip off at home against the SAIT Trojans, while Saturday will start off with both futsal teams taking on the Medicine Hat Rattlers in the early afternoon followed by volleyball hosting the SAIT Trojans. The teams are coming off recent wins and are looking to extend their streaks.
Basketball
Women’s basketball
Kodiaks (12-3) vs SAIT Trojans (7-9)

The Kodiak women’s basketball team looks to snag two wins off the SAIT Trojans this weekend to continue to separate themselves in the rankings. The team has been sitting in eighth in Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) rankings since late November.
Watch for Tylee Perry (second year, Business Administration – Management, Cardston), who is averaging 10.7 points per game.

Coming off a big weekend in Olds which included a double-overtime victory, the Kodiaks men’s basketball team takes on the defending national champions in a home-and-home set.
Filip Karanovic (third year, General Arts and Science, Herceg Novic, Montenegro), who is currently sitting fourth in the ACAC for scoring with 20.9 points per game, has been a force this season for the Kodiaks.

Kodiaks (4-11) vs SAIT Trojans (7-8)

The Kodiaks women’s volleyball team starts off its home-and-home weekend with the SAIT Trojans on the road on Friday night. The Trojans are three wins ahead of the Kodiaks going into this weekend and wins this weekend would be a big boost for the Kodiaks.
Veteran right-side hitter Aideena Wickstrom (fourth year, Exercise Science, Coaldale) had an exceptional weekend against the Broncos last weekend and will look to build off that momentum to help her team as they fight to move up in the standings.

Kodiaks (10-5) vs SAIT Trojans (3-12)

The Kodiaks men’s volleyball team is looking for success this weekend to clinch a playoff spot for the 2024 ACAC Men’s Volleyball Championships hosted by Olds College this year.
Keep an eye on Nolan Moes (fourth year, General Arts and Science, Barrhead, Alta.), who is sitting at second in the league for kills per set with 4.23.

Kodiaks (3-1-1) vs Medicine Hat Rattlers (2-2-1)

The Kodiaks women’s futsal team look to defend home court this weekend in a battle against the Medicine Hat Rattlers. Veteran Taylor Hrycun (fifth year, General Arts and Science, Edmonton) and Keira Wolsey (second year, General Arts and Science, Raymond) have both had exceptionally strong starts this futsal season and look to keep the momentum going this weekend on home court.

Kodiaks (1-3-1) vs Medicine Hat Rattlers (3-0-2)

The Kodiaks men’s futsal team is looking to improve their record in this weekend’s game against the Rattlers. Kodiak fans can look to keep an eye out for winger Brandon Francis (second year, Exercise Science, Lethbridge) and striker Ryder Skolka (first year, Business Administration, Nelson, B.C) in this weekend’s action.
