After an exciting season-opening weekend, the Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks volleyball and basketball teams are back in action this weekend.
Kodiaks basketball has home court advantage this weekend as they host the Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves tomorrow and The Kings University Eagles on Saturday.
Kodiaks volleyball hits the road, heading up north to face off against the Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves tomorrow night and the NAIT Ooks Saturday night.

Women’s basketball

The Kodiaks women’s basketball team is looking to bounce back after splitting their opening weekend games. They will be back in front of their home crowd as they host two North division teams.
Courtney Deemter (fourth year, Bachelor of Nursing, Calgary) has stepped into a big leadership role on this young team. She is currently tied among the Kodiaks for overall points, with 27 in two games. Annah Westrop (fourth year, General Arts and Science, Lethbridge) will be back at full strength for the Kodiaks. In her last game against Medicine Hat, she was coming off cross-country championships earlier in the day.

The Kodiaks men’s basketball team is looking to redeem themselves with a home-court win this weekend.
Cole Lake (fourth year, Business Administration, Eagle, Idaho) is settling into his new school nicely. His fast-paced game has him averaging 19.5 points per game. Corey Banks (first year, Architectural Animation Technology, Canmore) is also looking to continue his hot streak after he was named Player of the Game in last weekend’s matchup against the Medicine Hat Rattlers.

The Kodiaks women’s volleyball team travels up north to face off against two respected volleyball programs. The team will be looking to get a few more wins under their belt to try to get some momentum going early in the season.
Robyn Austin (first year, Business Administration – Accounting, Lethbridge) is off to an impressive start as a first-year player. Her aggressiveness at the net has made her one of the leading scorers on the Kodiaks team. On the other end of the spectrum, veteran Aideena Wickstrom (fifth year, Exercise Science, Coaldale) is another heavy hitter who has an experienced shot selection.

The Kodiaks men’s volleyball team has had an impressive start to the season, keeping their momentum going from pre-season exhibition games. They will be looking to make a statement with their next two games this weekend.
The Kodiaks are currently all over the ACAC leaderboards with nine players showing up in top five lists, including kills per set, hitting percentage, blocks per set, digs per set, service aces per set and assists per set. Ethan Nashim (fifth year, Open Studies, Lac La Biche, Alta.) has made a huge offensive impact early in the season, and he’s currently leading the team in kills.
