Weekend Preview: Lethbridge hosts big Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference events
Sept. 29, 2023 – Lethbridge College has a busy Saturday lined up for fall sports.
On Saturday, the cross-country teams will take to the trails at Nicholas Sheran Park to compete against ten other ACAC teams. In the afternoon, our soccer squad will be playing host to the SAIT Polytechnic Trojans in an epic showdown for the coveted top seed in the south division.
Cross-country running
· Saturday, Sept. 30 | W 11:30 a.m. M 12:30 p.m. Hosted by Lethbridge College at Nicholas Sheran Park
This will be the teams’ first encounter and competition on the 2023 cross-country championships course route.
In the Kodiaks first Grand Prix event of the season they had big performances from first time ACAC cross-country runners, Owen Stewart (second year, General Studies, Lethbridge) and Katrina Michel (first year, Practical Nursing, Okotoks, Alta.) and they look to improve on their debut fourth place finishes.

Women’s soccer
Kodiaks (5-0-0) vs SAIT Polytechnic Trojans (5-0-0)
· Saturday, Sept. 30 | 1:30 p.m. at Servus Centre Outdoor Field
Kodiaks women’s soccer is looking to hold onto their top five spot in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) rankings when they go up against the Trojans. Both teams are undefeated in the ACAC south division.
Raeleen Vanden Dungen (fifth year, Early Childhood Education, Vauxhall) has hit her stride and has had an exceptional week filled with accolades. After a close win against Medicine Hat College, she has had the honor of being recognized as this week’s Player of the Game, Kodiaks Student-Athlete of the Week, ACAC Athlete of the Week, and CCAA Athlete of the Week.
Men’s soccer
Kodiaks (4-0-0) vs SAIT Polytechnic Trojans (4-0-0)
· Saturday, Sept. 30 | 3:30 p.m. at Servus Centre Outdoor Field
The men’s soccer team has been riding the ‘winning’ wave throughout the start of the season. Both teams are the only two teams left in the conference that are undefeated. This game will be the ultimate test as they face the defending back-to-back ACAC champions.
The men’s captain Joel McLeod (second year, Business Operations, Medicine Hat) has been maneuvering his team to success. After their win against Medicine Hat, he was honoured Player of the Game and Kodiaks Student-Athlete of the Week. This week, the team was included in the CCAA rankings in the number eight slot.
