March 7, 2024 - The Kodiaks men’s volleyball team is thrilled to welcome Dallas Pauls from Osler, Sask., northeast of Saskatoon, to the team for the 2024-25 season. Pauls, a six-foot-10 opposite attacker.
Pauls brings extensive high-level court experience with him. He represented Saskatchewan at Canada Cup events, and he led the Warman High School Wolverines to their first-ever appearance at the 5A provincial championship in 2023.
“Obviously with Dallas, we really see an unlimited potential,” says head coach Greg Gibos. “He came for a day of training on his visit and our coaching staff was blown away with his receptiveness to feedback and ability to move a frame the size of his. When people see Dallas, they immediately see his blocking ability and size, but what we saw was someone who has a really strong desire to get better. We could tell he was motivated to become the best version of himself, and also develop as a leader while he is here. His desire to push himself will be a lasting impact of becoming a Kodiaks. He can create angles and become one of the best attackers in CCAA.”
Pauls says he is excited to join the Kodiaks.
“From the moment I stepped on Lethbridge College Campus it felt like home,” says Pauls. “The athletes made me feel so welcome, and after that first practice, I knew I wanted to be a Kodiak.”
Along with the welcoming atmosphere Pauls admits that the Kodiaks tradition of excellence helped land the highly recruited athlete.
“Lethbridge has such a strong desire to win right now,” says Pauls. “I am a winner, and this competitive mindset was something that immediately attracted me to become a Kodiak. You can feel in the gym that they are a group of caring individuals, but they also want to bring home the first national championship to Lethbridge College. I can’t think of anywhere better for me to push myself and play in front of the fans at the Val.”
The Kodiaks men’s volleyball team will have both their opposite attackers graduate this spring, so recruiting a talented person to this position was a priority.
“We think the world of Dallas, and we know he’s going to be an incredible member of the Kodiaks family,” says Gibos. “His leadership and ability to push himself will make our gym better from day one. I can’t wait to see what he accomplishes in his time here. He was heavily recruited by both U-Sport and other CCAA teams, so we are grateful he’s a Kodiak.”
When asked who motivates him, Pauls mentioned his bother as a big piece to his success. “My brother was always someone who I looked up to, and he continues to push me to be better each day,” says Pauls. “I know my strong desire to improve comes from him constantly pushing me to do my best.”
Pauls follows in his brother’s footsteps to Lethbridge. Chase Pauls was a member of the Lethbridge Hurricanes until being traded in December 2023 to Prince George.
