Kodiaks men’s volleyball adds a setter to their 2024-25 roster
The Lethbridge College men’s Kodiaks volleyball has signed Gabe Rahn for the 2024-25 season.
The Lethbridge College men’s Kodiaks volleyball has signed Gabe Rahn for the 2024-25 season. Reigning from Medicine Hat, and 2023 SAVHSL MVP, Rahn is set to graduate from Medicine Hat High School (MHHS) where the team won the 2023 4A South Zone champions.
Rahn is a six-foot-three setter who has earned many accolades coming from his high school and club experience. Kodiaks head coach Greg Gibos says Rahn was part of a huge turnaround at MHHS as well as the Medicine Hat volleyball club scene.
“He was an integral part of creating a tradition of excellence and winning which is something that we are trying to achieve here at Lethbridge College,” says Gibos. “Gabe is exactly what it means to be a Kodiak.”
Rahn locked in on the Kodiaks program because of the culture that has been created. He believes that this is the best place for him to reach his goals. He has enrolled in the General Arts and Science program and is working towards a Bachelor of Science transfer.
“I want to be part of the first team to bring a banner to Lethbridge,” says Rahn. “I think I can contribute a hard-working mindset to the team, and I'll always push myself to become a better player in every practice and push my teammates to be the best they can be.”
During the recruiting process, Gibos was able to point out that he’s the type of player who is willing to compete and uplift his teammates. “As a setter, it’s so important to be a vocal leader on the floor and try and push athletes both when we are performing well and struggling,” says Gibos. “All I’ve ever seen Gabe do is try and win for his team.”
Rahn is excited to learn from the coaching staff and players as they have competitive mindsets and lots of knowledge to give. The majority of the Kodiaks roster have gone 27-11 in the past two season and will be back for the upcoming season.
Rahn shouts out his parents and coach Jordan Weimer for pushing him to be his best on and off the court.
