Kodiaks men’s soccer picks up fourth LFC recruit
The Kodiaks men’s soccer team has signed Deacon Stang for the upcoming season.
The Lethbridge College Kodiaks men’s soccer team has signed Deacon Stang for the upcoming season. Stang brings a wealth of versatility, having played multiple positions for his club team. His diverse skill set is set to become a valuable asset for the Kodiaks in the future.
After graduating from Catholic Central High School this year, he will start in the General Arts and Science – Health Sciences program at the college. Staying local was a big reason for choosing Lethbridge College. “I know everybody here and I get to come in with a good group of guys,” says Stang.
Stang is the latest recruit from the Lethbridge Football Club (LFC) program joining his former teammates Adam Krisko, Tyler Munnings and Bronson Schlichter.
Sean Carey, the head coach of the Kodiaks, has established a strong bond with the local club teams. This connection led to their involvement in a few joint sessions with the Kodiaks. As a result, Stang was invited to join the Kodiaks in their summer training sessions.
“There’s a lot of chemistry between all of us (2024 LFC recruits) joining and then those who are already on the team,” says Stang. “I think it's going to be a pretty good squad and overall, a really good season.”
The Kodiaks men’s soccer team continues to expand their roster in their pursuit to reclaim the conference title, last secured in 2019.
“He would run through a wall for you; he’s a good guy, good team player,” and he just defines what we're all about as a college, Carey says of Stang. “He’s just one of those hard-working kinds of player that I can't wait to see him at this level.”
Kodiaks coaches actively recruit high school athletes around Alberta and neighbouring provinces. If one of the Kodiaks coaches hasn’t spoken to you yet, don’t worry. Simply fill out the recruitment form (gokodiaks.ca/recruitment), and they would be pleased to learn more about you.
