July 19, 2023 – The Lethbridge College Kodiaks men’s soccer team adds a speedy midfielder, Jacob Marshall, to its squad.
Marshall is a recent graduate of L.V. Rodgers Secondary School in Nelson, B.C. where he played for club soccer for the Kootenay Whitecaps Academy. He is set to take the General Studies program in the fall.
The Kodiaks coaching staff see a lot of potential in Marshall. During the recent Talent I.D soccer camp at the college, he was able to showcase his soccer IQ through his decision-making on the field.
“He is phenomenal as a player,” says Kodiaks Head Coach Sean Carey. “He's going be that guy who is just going to turn around to his teammates and give them fire and lift everybody up.”
Marshall says he had plans to move to Alberta after high school but the decision to move to Lethbridge and join the Kodiaks was heavily influenced by one of his former teammates and recent recruit, Ryder Skolka. After hearing praises about the Kodiaks’ athletic program, teammates and coaches, he was motivated to pursue his post-secondary education here.
“I am a great team player and I like to add pace and flow of the game to take control of the game,” says Marshall. “I'm most looking forward to getting to know some of the guys better and creating that kind of team bond.”
Carey says he is looking forward to seeing what Marshall and his teammates can accomplish together this fall. “I just look forward to training camp, the season and getting these guys rolling,” says Carey. “Let's bring another ACAC banner back to Lethbridge College and go to another nationals.”
