July 5, 2023 – The Lethbridge College Kodiaks men’s basketball team has secured a valuable addition to its roster by signing shooting guard Dray Walburger. He is a Lethbridge native that is expected to bring a unique skill set and a winning mindset to the team.
Standing at 6'3, Walburger's ability to create his own offense sets him apart from his peers. With a talent for going one-on-one, head coach Ryan Heggie says Walburger will be a true asset to the Kodiaks' offensive arsenal.
"Dray is a unique player who can create his own offense,” says Heggie. “He has the ability to go one-on-one and get buckets."
Walburger's exceptional scoring prowess made him a highly sought-after recruit throughout the province. His diverse range of shots – he is comfortable from behind the arc, a reliable mid-range pull-up, and a strong finishing ability at the rim – will make him a constant offensive threat.
The Kodiaks men's basketball team, coming off a successful season that saw them win bronze at the ACAC championships, aims to build on its previous achievements. The addition of Walburger to the roster will provide a boost in firepower and competitiveness.
Despite taking time off after high school graduation, Walburger's passion for the game remains unwavering. He eagerly anticipates his return to the court this November and is ready to contribute to a championship program.
"To me, [signing with the Kodiaks] means joining a championship program with a tradition of success," says Walburger. "I see it as a great opportunity and privilege to join the Kodiaks."
Walburger's dedication to hard work, a team-first attitude, and constant personal growth aligns well with the Kodiaks' values. Coach Heggie says he is excited to have Walburger on board: "I have known Dray for years, I have coached him at camps many summers, and I'm extremely excited he's a Kodiak moving forward."
