Valgardson and Wright Canadian Brewhouse Kodiaks student-athletes of the week

Canadian Brewhouse is proud to sponsor the Kodiaks Student-Athletes of the Week. Congrats to Gracee and Jackson on their selections! 

Gracee Valgardson (second year, General Arts and Science, Lethbridge) was a driving force for the women’s futsal team in their opening regional. A relentless competitor and natural leader, she made her mark both on the court, showcasing her skill and determination throughout the tournament. In addition to her strong defensive play, where she shut down several attacking threats, Valgardson was an offensive powerhouse, scoring five of the Kodiaks' 15 goals over the weekend. Her work ethic and commitment were evident, whether she was scoring crucial goals or leading her teammates with constant communication and motivation from the bench, she was also named Player of the Game for her efforts.

Jackson Wright (second year, Business Administration, Claresholm) had a standout weekend, playing a key role in the men’s basketball team’s bounce-back upset victory over the St. Mary’s Lightning. Despite a tough loss on Friday, Jackson remained unrattled and showcased his presence both offensively and defensively throughout the contest. He finished that game with 12 points, four rebounds, and one assist, providing a reliable inside option when the team needed it most. On Saturday, Jackson turned in an even stronger performance, contributing 15 points, 6 rebounds, three assists, and two steals to help secure a hard-fought 78-76 win. He was a dominant force in the first half, scoring 10 of his points and helping establish the inside game when the perimeter shooting struggled. His offensive output and leadership on both ends of the floor were crucial in keeping the team close during key moments.
