Moxies is proud to sponsor the Kodiaks Student-Athletes of the Month. Congrats to Gracee and Nolan on their February achievements!
Gracee Valgardson (first year, Open Studies, Lethbridge) had a strong showing in the month of February. She is one of the leading goal scorers for the team with eight in their south regional play. Valgardson played a key role for her team in helping them secure a spot at this year’s ACAC Championships. She has become a lethal attacker who is mastering the art of the futsal toe poke, a highly valuable skill in futsal. While she’s always been a top-tier defender for us, she is now taking on this dual role of being an offensive threat as well. All the while, she is a great role model for the rest of the team, strong communicator, and just fearless in the game. In addition, this futsal season is also helping her prepare for the 2025 Futsal National Championship in April with Yukon for another season.
Nolan Moes (fifth year, Natural Resources Compliance, Barrhead, Alta.) has had a remarkable February, earning back-to-back Kodiaks Student-Athlete of the Month honors for his outstanding contributions to the men’s volleyball team. Moes played an instrumental role in his team’s success throughout the season, culminating in their silver medal finish at the ACAC Championships. Over the course of three matches, he recorded 49 kills, the highest of any player in the tournament, and finished second in blocks, further solidifying his presence as one of the top players in the league. Beyond his performance at the championships, Moes achieved several career milestones, including surpassing 1,000 career kills. His excellence on the court also earned him a spot on the All-Conference team and an ACAC Championship Tournament All-Star selection. These accolades are a testament to his consistency, leadership, and dedication to the game.
