Kodiaks women’s volleyball signs local middle
The Kodiaks women’s volleyball team has signed Lethbridge local Alexis Davenport for the 2025-26 season
The Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks women’s volleyball team has signed Lethbridge local Alexis Davenport for the 2025-26 season.
Davenport currently attends Chinook High School and plays for the Lethbridge Volleyball Club as a middle. She will start in the polytechnic’s General Arts and Science program in the fall.
The Kodiaks’ coaching staff were able to watch Davenport train and compete in her U17 season. “I was very impressed by the improvements I saw from the start of school ball to the end of club,” says head coach Anna Schwark. “I enjoyed how she was able to remain competitive on the court while also having a positive demeanor with her teammates.”
Davenport says she was interested in the community aspect the Kodiaks provided, with Lethbridge being her hometown. She also says she felt close to the student-athletes on the team in a short period of time and knew the polytechnic was the right fit for her. The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference is known to be an elite conference for women’s volleyball across Canada, and Davenport says that was another factor in her decision.
Davenport brings strength to the middle position that will help the Kodiaks elevate their pace and strategy there. The team plans to add to its middle toolbelt in the upcoming system and Davenport’s athleticism will be an asset.
I just want to bring positivity to the team as well as team spirit,” says Davenport. “On top of that, I’m looking forward to getting closer with the girls and forming a good team connection.”
“I am very excited to see Alexis grow as an athlete but also as a person outside of the gym,” says Schwark. “We are so excited to retain a local athlete like Alexis and I am excited to see how her Lethbridge community supports her in her next steps as an athlete.”
