Kodiaks women’s soccer signs local defender

The Lethbridge College Kodiaks women’s soccer team is adding Jadyn Hoy, a promising local talent, to the 2024-25 season lineup.
Hoy is graduating from Catholic Central High School in Lethbridge this spring, and she will continue her academic journey in the college’s General Arts and Science program in the fall.
Hoy has been developing her skills through the Lethbridge Football Club (LFC). It’s also where she initially crossed paths with Kodiaks head coach Sean Carey. Hoy says that familiar connection helped influence her decision to play for Carey at the college.
As part of Hoy’s recruitment process, she was invited to Kodiaks summer training where she got an inside look at the team and culture.
Having grown up in Lethbridge, Hoy says she’s been able to watch the Kodiaks play and witness their community involvement over the years. “It just felt really natural to come here,” she says. “I feel really comfortable and excited to start.”
Hoy is a defender, and full-back is her main position.
“She’s got some good skills and is an aggressive player,” says Carey. “She’s going to give our other full-back players a push for that starting position.”
“I'm excited to be playing at a higher level, and I think this is a really good experience for me,” says Hoy. “I'm looking forward to getting to know the girls on the team and winning some games.”
Carey says he is excited to see LFC players joining the college’s program and hopes they can help push the Kodiaks towards a banner.
Kodiaks coaches actively recruit high school athletes around Alberta and neighbouring provinces. Student-athletes interested in Lethbridge College can fill out a recruitment form at gokodiaks.ca/recruitment.
