Lethbridge College Kodiaks men’s soccer team signs local talent

The Lethbridge College Kodiaks men’s soccer team is thrilled to announce Bronson Schlichter, a quick and experienced midfielder, as the latest addition to its roster for the 2024-25 season.

Schlichter, who will be graduating from Catholic Central High School this spring, will enrol in the college’s Business Administration program. He played much of his career with the Lethbridge Football Club (LFC) before spending this past year playing for a tier-one Calgary Foothills Soccer Club team. He is expected to bring a wealth of talent, speed and ambition to the team.

It was while Schlichter was playing for LFC that Kodiaks head soccer coach Sean Carey was able to first see him and start the recruitment process. “He a really speedy winger with an abundance of skills,” says Carey, adding that his experience playing for with the Foothills team will be a benefit to the Kodiaks.

Schlichter stayed in regular contact with Carey during the recruitment process, attending team practices and getting a better understanding of the team’s culture and chemistry as well as the coaching staff’s expectations.

“This is my home, so it was an easy choice to stay here,” says Schlichter. “The team is made up of a lot of great coaches, staff and players. I’m excited to get started.”

Carey says he believes that Schlichter will give the team another dimension on the wing. He’s a versatile player who the coaching staff and other players are excited to work with.

“Schlichter is known by a lot of the boys on the team,” says Carey. “They’re thrilled to have him come on board.”
