The Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks men’s and women’s basketball seasons will tip off at home on Oct. 25 against their Highway 3 rivals, the Medicine Hat College Rattlers.
In all, the 2024-25 schedule released this week by the Kodiaks and the Alberta Colleges Athletic Association (ACAC) will include 21 games.
Some of the matchups to look forward to in the season ahead include a set of weekend games on the road against the current ACAC and Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) national champions. The teams will face the Keyano College Huskies, whose men’s team are the reigning conference and national champion, on Nov. 22, and the Lakeland College Rustlers, whose women’s team are the reigning conference and national champion, on Nov. 23.
One of the noteworthy home games will be on Jan. 31, when the Kodiaks take on the St. Mary’s University Lightning. This will also be Junior and Senior High School Appreciation Night where middle school and high school students from across southern Alberta are invited to come out and watch the games for free (and enjoy food and prizes as well).
The ACAC basketball championships have transitioned back to a final eight format, which will feature the top four teams in the north and south divisions in action. The host school will be determined on Jan. 27, when the team with the highest winning percentage will have the right to host in both the men’s and women’s divisions. The championship events will take place Feb. 28 to March 1. The women’s championship will be hosted by the north division leader and the men’s championship will be hosted the south division leader.
All ACAC basketball games can be watched online live at acactv.ca or on Telus Optik’s channel 1998.
