Kodiaks women’s basketball signs ICS starter

The Lethbridge College Kodiaks women’s basketball team has signed Halle Aleman to its roster.
Sharing her signing day with best friend and teammate Nyomi Heins, Aleman is a point/shooting guard coming from the highly successful program at Immanuel Christian Secondary School in Lethbridge. Aleman will start the college’s General Arts and Science program in the fall.
“She has had a very successful high school basketball career,” says Kodiaks head coach Ken McMurray. “She started all three years and her team has been provincial champions the last two.”
The coaches have had Aleman on their radar for a while as she’s been invited out to multiple scrimmages and attended talent I.D. camps.
“I’ve been around the team for quite some time now,” says Aleman. “I’ve learned how they play and how their team is. I really like their coaching style and the culture they build with the team.”
One of Aleman’s strengths on the court is her decision-making. She’s able to read the defence well and know when to shoot or pass. “Her ability to play multiple positions, including point guard, make her an exciting prospect,” says McMurray.
The coaches have no doubt Aleman will flourish in the Kodiaks uniform. They shoutout her high school coaches, Mike and Emily Greeno, for her IQ of the game which they think will translate well to the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference.
“They’re nice, they’re competitive and I know they will make me better,” says Aleman, of her new teammates. “It’s my hometown, my family can come watch and I’m just so excited to be a Kodiak.”
Kodiaks coaches actively recruit high school athletes around Alberta and neighbouring provinces. If one of the Kodiaks coaches hasn’t spoken to you yet don’t worry, simply fill out the recruitment form (gokodiaks.ca/recruitment) and they would be pleased to learn more about you.
