Hansen and Armstrong named Mucho Burrito AOTW
Carter Hansen and Claire Armstrong had strong weekends for Kodiaks volleyball.
Feb. 12, 2020 - A weekend sweep of your rival sure feels good, and these two student-athletes had large roles to play.
Both Kodiaks men's and women's volleyball teams swept the Medicine Hat College Rattlers last weekend, with three of the four matches going to five-set thrillers.
Carter Hansen and Claire Armstrong both stepped up when their teams needed them the most and have been named our Mucho Burrito Athletes of the Week!
Carter Hansen - MVB
Carter (fifth year, General Studies) continued to prove why he is one of the best in the conference last weekend, especially in delivering a masterful performance on Saturday to help the Kodiaks escape the weekend with a sweep of rival Medicine Hat College.
On Friday he struck for 13 kills and five aces in a straight sets win. He was at his best in a tough grind-it-out win the following night, delivering 28 kills, three blocks and six digs while being named the Kodiaks player of the game in a five-set thriller.
Claire Armstrong - WVB
Claire (third year, Massage Therapy) played two of the strongest games of her post-secondary career last weekend as the Kodiaks twice knocked off Medicine Hat College in five-set thrillers.
On Friday she had eight kills, one ace and three solo blocks, earning the Kodiaks player of the game honours. She was even better the following night, delivering ten kills, five digs and four solo blocks. While it doesn't show up on the scoresheet, she was also very involved in slowing the ball down on defense and closing blocks, helping the Kodiaks disrupt the Rattlers offensive attack.
